You will be part of Robotics in Västerås. Robotics develops, manufactures and markets robots and associated control systems, software, arc welding products, tracks and motor packages. We have bases in Västerås, Jönköping and the Gothenburg area in Sweden. Over 90% of our production goes to export and our customers include all major auto manufacturers. The auto industry and its sub suppliers and to an increasing extent general industry, such as the food industry, are automating their production with robots. Welding, machine tending, materials management, grinding, packaging and assembly are the most common applications. Our robots and robotics are sold via local ABB companies and via independent systems integrators and OEM companies – companies we call our Partners.
Seize this opportunity to take on a challenging yet exciting position at a successful unit operating within the fast-growing robot industry. As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be part of the Hardware Development & Customization team. You will be provided an interesting role within mechanical design and play a central part in the development of next generations’ robot control cabinet platform. Your main mission will be to manage the mechanical design of our robot control systems. This will, among other things, involve developing enclosures to our control cabinets, electronic units and other components installed in the cabinet. Managing layout, such as the cable routing and placement of components, will also be part of your responsibility. This position also involves working closely with our production engineering team to optimize the products for automatic assembly.
To successfully take on this position, you need to be a driven, analytical and quality-focused problem solver with attention to details. You thrive when working in teams with skilled colleagues. You preferably hold a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering along with at least three years’ experience from working with mechanical design. Experience of modular product design and DFAA (Design For Automatic Assembly) is beneficial, whereas former work with 3D CAD modelling is a requirement. Today, you are probably working with similar tasks in an industrial company. Fluency in Swedish and English is a must, whereas knowledge in German is an advantage.
